Discussion Board got a huge makeover in SharePoint 2013. There were new changes in UI and some new Views were Introduced.There are two kind of discussion lists in SharePoint 2013.
- Discussion Board
- Discussion List in Community Sites

How to Create a Discussion Board –
Create New discussions in Discussion Board –
Click on a discussion board to Open it.
Add discussion title and description for the new discussion board.
Click OK to Create it.
Features of New Discussion – Once the new discussion is created you can see that listed in Discussion board.
In the new discussion you can Reply, Edit and via call up menu select Alert me,Mark as featured and delete for the discussion.
To reply simply click on Reply button or reply in the bottom text field.
Discussion Views – Each discussion can be seen with many different Out-of-Box Views. The views available are –
Flat View – Flat is the default View that you see in above screens.
Discussion Board is a great alternative to Community sites, in case you are willing to use them.
